Love this place! Probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in Schaumburg. Shrimp fried rice, lollipop chicken, and honey walnut shrimp are always a hit. I have also hosted a party here before and they are very accommodating and super affordable family style.
Old standby Chinese - can't go wrong. Always fresh and generous quantity on your entree's. Service is fast and friendly. Professional Chefs are their trademark. Yumsville !!
Well yu's mandarin it's been a while but this is my go too Chinese place when I am in town. Place is still fantastic same inside and out for a long time still looks nice. Let's get to service came in a little later for lunch very attentive and quick service. Pricing on food is still very reasonable about 11 to 12 dollars a person. Food wise I ordered the garlic chicken fantastic flavor comes with fried rice, egg roll and fried wonton good portion for lunch. The person I was with got the Mongolian beef he enjoyed also. The lunch also comes with soup egg drop or hot sour both great. This place still in my top for Chinese you can't go wrong. Will be back soon.
I'm old school. I've been coming to Yu's with my parents, since they were in the strip mall across the street, in a building that has since been torn down. I know ownership has flipped, but some key dishes have remained largely unchanged. Namely, the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, which was my go-to dish in the early 80's. Since then, there's been some modernization, some Korean influences and dishes, and even a robot going around to serve your food! Favorite dishes for me currently... Szechwan Eggplant, Noodle Soup (spicy!), and Noodle Platter (spicy!), and Salt and Pepper Smelt. Regarding service... this is a Chinese restaurant. You don't come for the service. They want to serve you quickly, so they try to get your order fast and then dishes come out as they're ready. This is not to say that anyone is rude, but don't expect someone to stop by every 5 minutes to ask you if everything is okay. Once you get that, you'll realize that coming to Yu's is about getting excellent food and relaxing with your family. I recommend coming with a big group and big appetites and ordering family style so that you can sample several dishes with several flavor profiles. The cost is higher than the divey Chinese counterparts, but the quality is worth it.
At all of Yu's locations, it's always fun to observe the wok mastery through a large kitchen window. Their combination lunch and dinner specials are a better deal than ordering a la carte. Lunch entrées, which average $10-$12, include a small egg roll, one wonton, fried rice, and a choice of soup or green salad. I ordered the chicken chow mein and barely finished half of the mountainous portion. The hot & sour soup was excellent. The accompanying egg roll and won ton were not quite as tasty. Like so many restaurants nowadays, Yu's is shorthanded and the servers appear harried. We had to flag down our server several times for items that should've been brought or replenished automatically. If you come here at a busy time, be prepared to wait as they do not take reservations. But Yu can cook!
